We Believe:
Elim Pentecostal Churches are part of the worldwide Pentecostal Movement which embraces nearly every country of the world. As a local Elim Church, we subscribe to the doctrinal fundamentals of our denomination and contribute 10% of our income to central funds. A further 5% of our offerings are used for missionary support. For all general purposes we are locally governed and are free to develop our own vision as led by the Holy Spirit.
Membership of an Elim Pentecostal Church is held at the will of the local church leadership and does not depend on rites or knowledge of creeds, but upon a personal experience of salvation. All who have accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord and have been born again are eligible as members and can be received into fellowship by the leadership at a church meeting. There are certain doctrines to which Elim churches subscribe.
Our statement of Fundamental Truths includes:
- The veracity of the Bible as the inspired Word of God.
- The means of salvation is through the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
- The Baptism in the Holy Spirit as an enduement of power with signs following for all believers.
- The gifts of the Holy Spirit are for the Church today and those who are born of the Spirit should manifest the fruit of the Spirit
- The personal return of Jesus Christ to reign in power and glory.
We observe certain ordinances:
- Breaking of bread and drinking of grape juice in memory of our Lord’s death (Holy Communion).
- Baptism by total immersion in water.
- The anointing of the sick with oil for the healing of the body.
